Installation Tips
Tip 1 — Lens-Pressing Switches
To replace a bulb behind a lens-pressing switch, press down on the switch and slide the trim tool's slim edge between the lens and housing on the opposite side. The pressure helps the lens pop right out.
Tip 2 — Move Slow and Steady
Take your time. Moving slowly and steadily prevents marring, scuffing, or cracking housings, sockets, and trim panels.
Tip 3 — Look for Indentation Tabs
Some vehicles have indentation tabs on the lens or housing that show you exactly where to pry. Use the forked edge of the included trim tool on these tabs for a clean release.
Tip 4 — Removing Hard-to-Reach 194 Bulbs
If a bulb is too hot to touch or buried deep in the housing, use bulb removal pliers. No pliers? Wrap a piece of tape around the bulb and pull it straight out of the socket.
Tip 5 — Polar-Sensitive Bulbs
If a new LED bulb is properly installed but doesn't light up, flip it 180 degrees and reinstall. LED bulbs are polarity-sensitive — reversing the orientation fixes it.
Tip 6 — Loose Festoon Bulbs
Gently bend the metal terminal slightly toward the opposite side to close the gap in the socket. If it's still loose, you may need a larger bulb size. Avoid repeated bending — the terminals can weaken over time.
Tip 7 — Trunk and Cargo Lighting
If you're having trouble pulling trunk or cargo bulbs from the housing, use a trim tool to gently pry the bulb straight out of the socket.
Tip 8 — 194 Bulb Loose Connection or Flicker
If you're seeing flickering or a loose connection, pull the metal pins on the bottom of the bulb out to about 45 degrees. This ensures solid contact with the socket terminals.
